University of Bremen

German as a foreign language for students on Exchange Programmes and on International Courses

The University of Bremen offers 8 hours of instruction per week in the German language for free if your proficiency level is below B2.

You can also attend German language courses to prepare for one of the internationally recognised certificates of the Goethe-Institute or to prepare for the university entrance examination, TestDaf. You will, however, have to pay fees for these courses.

You can find more information on the link Entgeltordnung of the FZHB, on Goethe-Institut and on International Office University of Bremen.

Course Registration

All students of the University of Bremen should register online for the FZHB courses. Course fees for students are calculated on the basis of 1.50 € per hour of instruction. Academic staff and prospective students will need to pay 5 € per hour. If you think you have grounds to be exempted from paying fees, please register online first and then discuss the matter with the administration department of the FZHB. We will complete the online registration process for you without your having to enter details of payment of fees.

With regard to grounds for exemption from course fees, please consult the International Office and the FZHB.
